I wonder if the real reason we are over there is not for Afghanistan, because how are you going to change that Taliban religious culture, but to keep a close eye on Pakistan. This is what makes sense to me, since ah who has the nukes? I mean that country is really scarry, because who controls it is very questionable. For instance did the military really not know bin Laden was hiding in plain sight there, just several hundred yards away from their military academy? I see this as the true jeopardy that faces the world, not Afghanistan, who I think of as indigenous people not w world aspirations but to maintain their own culture and religious expression, which conflicts w the West.

What yall do ,goes unheard
The risk yall take, they say, is so absurd
What I see here at home ,there is no gratitude
As I write this, to you, I ,Salute
In our hearts and souls
I try to think of your daily toll
The stress on your thoughts
The last fight that you fought
Not one drop of sweat ,don't you fret
You have some of the most grateful Americans
You have never met
God Bless ya
From a son ,of an SDI and a friend to all of the Great Protectors
and Humble Healers
Our kids do have heroes, all of all

Exactly, we really don't know .
But its not really good to think negatively even we truly know that some may really know about Bin Laden's area. Very informative from you.

@Old blue, I also agree with what you are pointing out.
I think its really better that a country which really need a nation building ~ build up with their own so all of them can work together as a nation not depending to anyone.

@Brandon, as long as there's no unity ~ its not really possible to erase the 'war' anywhere. Sadly, there's a lot of differences with beliefs so those conflicts became a root of war. Sad but its really true.

Beautifully said.

A human being can never truly appreciate the beauty of love until they experience its painful extreme in times of loss. I know it's been said many times, and many different ways, but through loss we grow a little inside, and with each passing year gain a little more wisdom. The less wisdom we possess, the more we succumb to our baser instincts...

Not religious, just an observer in life...

Once again, beautifully written...

There are lots of things that civilians can do at home. One is to show support personally in such ways as you have described. You can also show support in the choices that you make. You can attend events meant to recognize or honor troops. You can line the streets for funerals of fallen soldiers and Marines. You can object when someone speaks against the troops or the mission. You see, to "support the troops but not support the mission" is giving a mixed message that doesn't fully support us. You can support the families of deployed troops, and show that you care that you have people making such a sacrifice... like the kids... in your community. My kids have sacrificed over three years of having their father around, and that is in a community that does not recognize their sacrifice, and sometimes depicts mine as somehow coerced or otherwise not completely honorable. You can have the same lack of tolerance for the outrageous and demeaning speech of others as they sometimes have for those who support both the troops and the mission.

Your question lets me realize that you do, in fact, support the troops. Supporting an individual soldier with care packages is an awesome contribution and brightens the life of that soldier. I thank you for whatever you do in that regard. Please keep up the support, and thanks for a great question.

Cheers,

Blue
